Designer Profile

“It's important for people to be surrounded every day by things they love -- a favorite piece of artwork, a family heirloom, photos that produce memories of favorite times. Inspired by these treasured items, I’m given the opportunity to highlight every client’s personal style and create unique living spaces that are at the same time elegant and functional.”

Colleen Moscone, ASID, is a 1993 graduate of Michigan State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Environment and Design.

Colleen seeks to provide clients with a pleasant, personable, professional experience, and uses her skills to manage projects effectively and achieve their goals with enthusiasm and resourcefulness.

Colleen is a partner in In:Detail Design: Build, the Oakland County-based interior design and custom construction firm. In:Detail is a sought-after resource for discriminating homeowners who want to renovate or expand their living spaces. Along with her partner, licensed builder Mike Alessio, Colleen specializes in custom lower levels, kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels, wet bars, wine cellars, custom window treatments, space planning, material and finish specifications and project management.

“We pay very special attention to our client's time AND money. Our vast network of remodeling and construction contractors – which gives us the advantage of hands-on management of an entire project from start to finish -- helps make the entire process easier to live with.”

Colleen became a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) in 2005. That same year, she received the Detroit Home Design First Place Award for her wine cellar design in 2005.

Before opening her firm, Colleen studied interior design and architecture in Europe and worked for the Chicago office of Morgan Stanley-Dean Witter as an Interior Designer. With Morgan Stanley-Dean Witter, Colleen tackled large projects that required study of all aspects of a structure. The experience gave her exposure to space planning, budget management, design development, consultations and negotiations with vendors, and project coordination. Her time in Chicago also introduced her to the expectations of aggressive schedules – an advantage she offers her clients today.

In 2003, Colleen opened Statements by Design and along with Alessio Custom Interiors provided professional design and build services to clients in Oakland County. This past year, in 2011, the two companies merged to become In:Detail Design:Build.

“I enjoy designing both mid-century interiors and ‘cleaned-up classic’ traditional spaces. A mix of elegance and functionality is my favorite design mode, but my true inspiration comes from my clients.”
